Hello, i ve just moved to Grande Prairie, i would like to know if there are any sand tracks near by? and how soon have you guys been able to ride in the seasons?
Thank
Dale
Welcome to town ! !!!
To the best of my knowledge we really don't have any sandy mx tracks in the area. The dunes has a fair amount of sand, but that's all trail riding. Pretty much all our tracks are some sort of clay base with a sand/wood chips mixture on top.
For the last couple of years I've been riding at Rocky valley in the first week of April. Hopefully this year will be the same, although we've got more snow than in the last couple of years.
For my interest, how'd you come upon our website. It's brand new (built by me) and I don't think there's too much publicity about it yet. But hey, send all your riding budds our way.
We do actually have an old sand track in the Dunes area that he was talking about. It is just to the north of the big sand bowl that is along the railroad tracks if your at all familiar with the Dunes. If not just head out to the Dunes golf course but instaed of turnig right off the highway, go left and there is a parking lot just across the train tracks. Park there and just ride the trails. There is about a zillion trails that go from the Weyerheuser highway to basically as far east as you can ride!! Have fun exploring.
Go to the links page and then to the Peace Country Motocross Association site. You should be able to get all the classes there. For the most part there are classes Novice, Junior, Intermediate and Expert in the big bikes, and something similar for the little guys and gals.
Racing on race days usually goes from about 9:30 am 'till 6pm.
